Schechner Lifson Corporation, whose roots date back to 1903, is an innovative organization offering consulting and comprehensive insurance programs.
We are an independent firm, not related to any one insurance company or investment vehicle. We do consulting, sales and administrative work, and operate on both a commission and a fee basis. Our approach and commitment are total: to provide a complete portfolio that yields solutions to problems of insuring human and property values.
As a client driven organization, our purpose is to satisfy your needs. We strive to be price competitive without sacrificing the quality of our work. Our direction is to provide the best products available, deliver appropriate services to our clients and maintain integrity in all our relations with our customers and insurance companies.

| 1903 - Schechner Real Estate & Insurance Agency established by Samuel Schechner, Fairmount Ave., Newark NJ | |||
| 1915 - Move to 9 Clinton St, Newark, NJ | |||
| 1926 - Eldest son Sheridan (Sherry) joins business. | |||
| 1930 - Second son Ephraim sets up law office within building. | |||
| Schechner Agency moved to a brand new building at 17 Academy St., Newark NJ | |||
| 1933 - Insurance is spun off off as the Schechner Insurance Agency. | |||
| 1940 - George Gold hired to open a life insurance division. | |||
| 1947 - George Gold leaves unexpectedly. Life business stagnates. | |||
| 1953 - Arthur Schechner (son of Sheridan) graduates and joins business. Given life insurance division to run with. | |||
| 1957 - Sheridan leaves to become Chairman of the Board of Barton Savings & Loan Assn. Arthur takes over insurance agency at age 26. | |||
| 1967 - Newark riots begin. Decided to move out of Newark. | |||
| 1968 - Move to 60 Glenwood Ave., East Orange, NJ. Samuel retires fully. | |||
| 1969 - Samuel died. Ephraim semi-retires. Bill Blemmings hired as Property/Casual Manager. Life Insurance spun off. Richard Harrison and Mike Chodorcoff join as shareholders. | |||
| 1978 - Bruce J. Callen joins Schechner Agency as a shareholder. | |||
| 1979 - Entire office moves to 241 Millburn Avenue in Millburn, NJ. By this time Ephraim fully retired and real estate business sold off. Insurance only now. | |||
| 1985 Schechner Agency merges with Binder Lifson & Borrus. Ed Lifson comes over as shareholder with Jeff Ackerman. New Company: Schechner Lifson Ackerman & Chodorcoff. Blemmings retires and Harrison left. | |||
| 1986 - Moved into 10,000 sq. ft. addition at 241 Millburn Avenue, Millburn, NJ | |||
| 1988 - Michael Schechner (Arthur's son) joins firm as 4th generation Schechner. | |||
| 1992 - Ackerman resigns | |||
| 1994 - Chodorcoff leaves. | |||
| 1996 - Merge with Leo M. Klein Agency. Harvey and Marc Rosenkrantz come over as principals of the firm. | |||
| Schechner Lifson Corporation is currently one of the larger regional insurance offices in the state of New Jersey. It is run by Michael Schechner, CEO and Marc Rosenkrantz, President. Arthur Schechner, Edward Lifson, Bruce Callen and Harvey Rosenkrantz are the other principals in the firm. With approximately 50 employees, we run a full service insurance organization offering all forms of property/casualty, life, group and executive benefits. | |||
